Community Connections – Youth

Youth activities provide newcomers (ages of 13–24) with assistance in establishing social and professional networks while acquiring essential life skills. Not only does NCP provide a safe space for youth to drop in and access resources year round, but also consistently strives to enhance each individual’s self-esteem, allowing for increased confidence and ability.

Activities within the NCP -Community Connections Youth Program include:

  • Leadership Workshops
  • Volunteerism 
  • Experiential Field Trips
  • Skill building Workshops
  • Team Sports and Exercise
  • Music and Drama
  • Arts and Photography
  • Extra English Support
  • Cooking and Nutrition

Our program also encourages and nurtures relationship building between newcomer and Canadian youth through co-learning and community participation. From these opportunities, youth gain:

  • Independence and self-confidence
  • Enhanced communication skills in English
  • Increased academic ability and comprehension
  • The development of leadership skills
  • Acculturation and integration into Canadian society
  • Behavioral and psychological progress 
  • An increased comprehension in the importance of civic participation
  • An understanding of the benefits in exercise and nutrition
  • A desire to engage in community volunteer projects
