English Training

English language training provides language instruction to adult immigrants so that they acquire the necessary language skills to integrate into Canadian society.

NCP has been offering free English language instruction to the newcomer community for over 26 years. Our team of language instructors is committed to maintaining NCP’s reputation as a caring and highly effective organization. As a result, almost 1,500 newcomers attend our English classes yearly.

Requirements:

  • The program is open to all adult immigrants
  • 18 years of age and over
  • Landed immigrants or convention refugee status
  • Assessment interview is required to confirm your current language proficiency

Our full-time LINC classes run Monday to Friday. These classes include:

  • English Language (levels 1–8)
  • Online Evening Classes (levels 0 to 6)
  • Academic and Business English
  • Early Childhood Education Assistant (level 6/7/8)

Employment – Paid Employment Assistance

The Permanent Placement Program (PPP) is a one-on-one customized service for clients who are looking for paid opportunities in their professional field. This program provides clients with tailored information based on their industry and experience, as well as resume review, interview preparation, cultural integration and individualized ongoing support. Due to the diverse needs of each client PPP modifies the approach depending on the client’s needs.

Who can participate?

  • PR card holders or Convention Refugees
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • CLB 7 and above
  • Preferably with some work experience in their field in Canada

What are the benefits for participants?

  • Clients gain access to ongoing one-on-one support
  • Clients are provided with resume and interview practice as needed
  • Gain access to hidden opportunities that are not advertised
  • Access new employers through the PPP network
  • Find relevant paid employment

The Labour Market Access (LMA) program provides newcomers with assistance in obtaining Canadian work experience that matches their professional skill and education. We strive for the successful workplace integration of newcomers.

LMA Services Include:

  • 10-week co-op placement
  • 8-week employment training program
  • Childminding during in-class participation. Limited spaces available.
  • Job search skills training
  • Workplace orientation
